Laura Negre Sherrill 

Laura Negre Sherrill was born and raised in Concord, NC. She lives with her husband, and their Cocker Spaniel, Sweet Pea. She graduated from East Carolina University with a BFA in Education. Laura’s teaching career began at East Gaston High School in Mt. Holly, NC. “I love to teach just about anything” says Laura.

In 2005, Laura moved over to the corporate development field.  She is an Education and Development Specialist with Carolinas HealthCare System. Laura’s career has found her teaching classes in the same hospital where she was born.

“I absolutely love my experience in corporate development! It is so much fun to facilitate workshops and see how the skills taught in the classroom are transferred to the departments.” At Carolina’s Health Care System Laura facilitates workshops on a wide range of topics, including leadership development, time management, conflict management, communication skills, diversity and inclusion, effective presentation skills, as well as many others. They have also begun to use web platform sessions. Laura says the hardest part of her job is finding time to continue to improve and develop course curriculum while facilitating classes on a daily basis.
 
“One of my personal goals and challenges in my position is to continue to learn more and more! I still feel relatively "green" in the corporate development field. That is one thing that has been SO GREAT about ASTD membership. As an ASTD member I have had so many opportunities over the past two years to meet a lot of great educators in the Charlotte area and learn so many things from the guest speakers at the Chapter meetings. ASTD offers us a platform to share knowledge, network and learn new things to take back and use in our professional lives.
